FINAL SCHOOL FACILITIES BUDGETS
With roughly $200 million allocated and yet to be spent from previous bienniums, the Legislature is backing off school construction funding for the 2017 fiscal year (see below), however, for the 2018 fiscal year, beginning July 2017, the Legislature has funded $80 million to the SFD for construction, and it is hoped that economic conditions will permit that amount to be raised during the Legislature’s 2016 General Session. This means that SFD appropriations for the 2017-18 biennium, approximately $215 million, is just over half of what was allocated for the 2015-16 biennium.
