Legislative Convention 2013

In February, construction professionals from throughout Wyoming gathered in Cheyenne for the Wyoming Construction Coalition’s 2013 Legislative Convention. Throughout the history of the Association, whether as WAB, ABC or WCC, no event has had so many people from so many different companies and organizations in attendance, highlighted by the trade show, also with more vendors participating than in any previous event.

The Legislative Convention also promoted attendance, focusing on issues that are impacting Wyoming’s construction professionals, both now and in the long term. A lot of focus was given to lien laws as presented by Carl Schweitzer of Northwest Notice Service. Carl highlighted specific areas of lien laws that construction professionals need to pay specific attention, as well as some areas where clarification or even changes may need to be made. WCC is working to address many of these issues in upcoming Legislative Sessions.

Anne Ladd, of the Wyoming Business Coalition on Health, held a discussion on the Affordable Care Act(ACA) also known as ObamaCare. There is certainly much more that needs to be known about the ACA,and how it will impact your business, even though some provisions have already gone into effect.

The Legislative convention was rounded out by presentations on changes in tax laws, presented by Dirk Montgomery of Porter , Muirhead, Cornia & Howard, and a Wyoming economic overview by Wenlin Liu, Senior Economist at the Wyoming Administration & Information Office’s Economic Analysis division.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to all sponsors, presenters, vendors and attendees that made WCC’s 2013 Legislative Convention a success.
